How does the planner count my pages?
It reads the sitemap your website publishes (named in robots.txt or found at /sitemap.xml) and counts the page addresses in it, grouped by the first part of the path, such as /news or /products. Very large sites are counted up to 200,000 pages. Pages missing from the sitemap are not counted, so paste your own list of URLs if you have one.
Does this planner start monitoring or create archives?
No. It counts pages and estimates a plan from your page count and check schedule. To monitor a whole website after subscribing, add it from Discovered Pages, which reads the sitemap and can keep adding new pages as they appear. Complete web archives require Ultimate and must be enabled in your account.
What is the difference between change history and a web archive?
Change history records what changed and can include screenshots. A complete web archive preserves a replayable copy of a captured page. PageCrawl offers complete web archives only on Ultimate, for monitors checked every 6 hours or less often.
Can I keep a capture even when nothing changes?
Yes. Record every check on Ultimate keeps screenshots, web archives, or both from eligible checks, including unchanged pages. Screenshot recording needs Full Page Screenshots enabled. Web archive recording requires checks every 6 hours or less often. Unchanged recordings use the shared storage pool and do not send change alerts.
How long will the included archive storage last?
Settings > Usage shows storage used, estimated recording growth in MB or GB per day and week, and a forecast based on your current setup and retention. Shorten unchanged-recording retention, keep screenshots instead of web archives where sufficient, or add 500 GB with another Ultimate unit. If storage fills, new archives and recordings pause while monitoring and alerts continue. Free space or add capacity to resume; switching future captures to screenshots does not remove existing archives.
Why can the recommended capacity exceed my page count?
Your plan must cover both the number of monitored pages and their monthly checks. For example, 1,000 pages checked every 6 hours need about 120,000 checks in a 30-day month. That needs two Ultimate units, even though one unit has capacity for 1,000 pages.
Can PageCrawl recover pages from before I started monitoring?
No. PageCrawl builds a record from when you start monitoring. Use the Wayback Machine or another existing archive to look for older captures. Neither a new monitor nor a new archive can recreate a past version that was never captured.
