How do I monitor SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for a domain?
Create a monitor for your domain, open the advanced editor, and choose the DNS Records element. Tick SPF, DMARC, and DKIM, plus any raw types you want such as MX, NS, and TXT. DKIM needs the selector you publish (for example "google"). PageCrawl resolves those records on every check and alerts you when a value changes.
How quickly will I be alerted to a record change?
Alerts arrive on the next check after the record changes, so a shorter check interval means a shorter detection window. Choose a per-change alert for high-risk records such as SPF and DMARC, or a daily or weekly digest if you would rather review email-authentication drift on a set schedule.
Do I need access to the domain to monitor its records?
No. DNS records are public, so PageCrawl resolves them for any domain you enter. You do not need to own the domain or hold DNS credentials, which makes this useful for watching partner, vendor, and brand-adjacent domains as well as your own sending domains.
What does a DNS change look like in PageCrawl?
Every check stores the resolved records as a sorted plain-text list, one record per line, so the change view is a straightforward before and after. A record type with no records is stored as (none). Notification summaries read like "MX changed: 10 aspmx.l.google.com to 10 mx.attacker.net".
Will routine DNS noise create false alerts?
No. TTLs are never stored, so a countdown alone never counts as a change. Records are sorted before they are compared, so round-robin reordering stays quiet, trailing dots are removed, and the SOA serial number is normalised out. A and AAAA records can rotate on their own behind a CDN, so deselect them if you see repeated address-only changes.
