I love them. And every [DATE REMOVED] it’s still a scramble getting my girls out the door to high school. As Senate Democratic Leader, I fought to raise teacher pay, cut class sizes, and invest in public schools. But not Bill Schuette. He voted to cut $500 million from education and support Betsy Devos’s plans to send taxpayer dollars to private schools. Bill Schuette doesn’t get it. But I do. It all starts with good schools. The commercial will begin airing on broadcast and cable TV stations across Michigan starting today. ### Share this post: Share Tweet Email Post navigation  Previous Post New Group of ‘Veterans for Whitmer’ Forms to Help Elect Gretchen Whitmer as Michigan’s Next Governor Next Post   Sen. Former President Barack Obama Endorses Gretchen Whitmer for Governor - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON OCTOBER 1, 2018 BY ADAM FOX-LONG Former President Barack Obama Endorses Gretchen Whitmer for Governor DETROIT — Today former President Barack Obama endorsed Gretchen Whitmer for Governor of Michigan. “I’m proud to endorse Gretchen Whitmer because Michigan’s middle-class families need a governor who knows how to get things done,” said former President Barack Obama. “Gretchen has spent her whole life getting real results for hardworking Michiganders, whether it was raising the minimum wage, or working to expand Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act to cover more than 680,000 people. As governor, she’ll focus on getting things done that will actually make a difference in people’s lives right now, like fixing Michigan’s roads, speeding up the replacement of lead pipes in communities like Flint, and getting our kids the skills they need to compete for good-paying jobs. That’s exactly the kind of leadership Michigan needs in the governor’s office right now.” “It’s such an honor to have President Obama’s support because as President he fought every day to make sure hardworking Michiganders had access to quality, affordable health care and worked to rescue Michigan’s auto industry, which saved 1.5 million jobs,” said Whitmer. “Thanks to the Affordable Care Act and the work I did as Senate Democratic Leader to expand Medicaid, more than 680,000 Michiganders now have health care who didn’t before. There’s still more work to do, and I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and expand Medicaid to the 600,000 Michiganders who still need care. Let’s get it done.” “It’s so exciting to have President Obama’s support,” said Gilchrist. “I started off my career as an organizer by serving as Social Media Manager for the 2008 Obama campaign in Washington, and as National Campaign Director at MoveOn.org, I spearheaded a campaign to expand Medicaid in states with Republican governors, like Michigan. As Lieutenant Governor, I’m ready to work side-by-side with Gretchen, President Obama, and everyone who wants to get to work expanding Michiganders’ access to health care.” ### Share this post: Share Tweet Email Post navigation  Previous Post New Group of ‘Business Leaders for Whitmer’ Forms to Help Elect Gretchen Whitmer as Michigan’s Next Governor Next Post   Whitmer Launches Campaign Ad Focused on Health Care, Protecting People with Pre-Existing Conditions Meet Gretchen Meet Garlin Issues News Volunteer Events Media Store Donate JOIN GRETCHEN Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Medium P.O. VIDEO: Schuette Refuses Three Times to Pull Repulsive Nassar Attack Ad - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2018 BY ADAM FOX-LONG VIDEO: Schuette Refuses Three Times to Pull Repulsive Nassar Attack Ad LANSING — Today Gretchen Whitmer issued the following statement after Bill Schuette held a press conference in which he repeatedly refused to answer calls from Nassar survivors demanding that the Michigan Republican Party pull the ad. Watch the video clip from the Detroit News here. “Three times. Bill Schuette was asked three times if he would heed the call of Nassar survivors to pull this repulsive ad, and he refused to give a straight answer three times,” said Whitmer. “The survivors and their families shouldn’t have to see Larry Nassar over and over again. Bill, how low are you willing to stoop to advance your political career? Have you no decency? It’s time for you to do the right thing and get this ad off their air. It’s a lie, and you know it. The people of Michigan deserve a governor who has integrity and tells the truth, not a craven career politician who will say anything to get elected.” TRANSCRIPT: Jonathan Oosting [Detroit News]: How do you know that, Attorney General? That Gretchen Whitmer didn’t – “Refused” as this ad says. It says she refused to prosecute. Do you know for a fact? Bill Schuette: Listen, I haven’t seen the ad. I was in Ionia County this morning by eight-o’clock. I had a whole bunch of stuff throughout the day. I’m here to set the record straight about the prosecution of Larry Nassar and the fact is we received this case from the Michigan State University Police Department. And set the record straight as we brought charges, made the decision, she chose not to. I think that was wrong. And leadership is about making the right decisions. Jonathan Oosting: Several Nassar victims today joined Gretchen Whitmer at her press conference, including Grace French. She said politely and respectfully, Mr. Schuette: I ask the Michigan Republican Party to take down an ad that features the face of my abuser. How do you respond to those victims? Bill Schuette: You know again, this is about my record. This discussion we’re having here today. And it’s about the record of Senator Whitmer and making decisions. I made a decision to charge Larry Nassar. And now he’s behind bars for the rest of his life. Jonathan Oosting: So you have no response to the victims? Bill Schuette: I have not seen any… Jonathan Oosting: But you’ve heard what the victims said. You just quoted my story, so you read it… Bill Schuette: Any instance of sexual assault is horrific. And every and every victim of sexual assault deserves justice. That’s my response. # # # Share this post: Share Tweet Email Post navigation  Previous Post Desperate Schuette Doubles Down on Shameful Nassar Attack Ad Next Post   New Group of ‘Business Leaders for Whitmer’ Forms to Help Elect Gretchen Whitmer as Michigan’s Next Governor Meet Gretchen Meet Garlin Issues News Volunteer Events Media Store Donate JOIN GRETCHEN Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Medium P.O.
