X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON MAY 3, 2020 BY ZACK POHL Detroit Free Press: Gov. Whitmer sends Bell’s beer care package to ‘SNL’ star Cecily Strong Well, one thing’s for certain: Cecily Strong won’t hold the wrong beer ever again when portraying Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. You may recall [DATE REMOVED] Strong played the role of the Michigan governor during a “[DATE REMOVED] Live” sketch that didn’t make the live airing but was posted online after. The State of Michigan took notice — and so did Whitmer, who told Fox 2 that she found it funny, but took issue with Strong holding a Labatt Blue rather than a Michigan-made beer.   Read the full article here. USA Today: For governors, the coronavirus is a test, from its deadly toll to dealing with Trump - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON APRIL 3, 2020 BY ZACK POHL USA Today: For governors, the coronavirus is a test, from its deadly toll to dealing with Trump For governors, too, the coronavirus has been a test. They find themselves rallying an anxious public, bidding against one another for scarce ventilators on the open market and sometimes scrapping with the president over what the federal government should and has delivered. More than any other elected official, governors have been making the on-the-ground decisions that will determine the lives and, in some cases, the deaths of Americans during this pandemic. They are responsible for deciding when stay-at-home orders are issued to slow the spread of COVID-19 and have scrambled to try to ensure adequate medical treatment is going to be available when it does spread.   Read the full article here. Whitmer Joins Call for Investigation into PFAS Contamination - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON JULY 16, 2018 BY ADAM FOX-LONG Whitmer Joins Call for Investigation into PFAS Contamination LANSING — Today, former Senate Democratic Leader and Ingham County Prosecutor Gretchen Whitmer released the following statement after reports revealed that warnings of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, contamination in Michigan were made in 2012. “Ignoring credible warnings of PFAS contamination is yet another example of how leaders like Governor Rick Snyder and Bill Schuette have put dollars and cents ahead of people’s lives. Michigan is home to more than 21 percent of the world’s fresh water, but right now dozens of sites across the state have been identified as being contaminated with PFAS. We cannot continue to ignore this administration’s failures to protect our drinking water. It’s time for a thorough investigation on why the Snyder administration suppressed the 2012 report” Whitmer has released a plan to create a Department of the Great Lakes and Fresh Water to protect Michigan’s drinking water. Whitmer will address PFAS contamination by restocking the Clean Michigan Initiative fund with the financial resources needed to address this man-made catastrophe, applying for grants to secure federal funding and holding polluters accountable for their mistakes. Funding will be used for clean-up efforts, home and utility filtration systems for Michigan residents and creating a statewide, publicly available database of all known groundwater resources and contaminated aquifer systems across Michigan. ### Share this post: Share Tweet Email Post navigation Next Post   Whitmer Blasts Schuette Plan to Ban Abortion in Michigan Meet Gretchen Meet Garlin Issues News Volunteer Events Media Store Donate JOIN GRETCHEN Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Medium P.O. Sen. Bernie Sanders Endorses Whitmer for Governor - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON OCTOBER 11, 2018 BY ADAM FOX-LONG Sen. Bernie Sanders Endorses Whitmer for Governor Sanders speaking at Whitmer campaign rally [DATE REMOVED] at U-M’s Rackham Auditorium DETROIT – Today U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) endorsed Gretchen Whitmer for Governor of Michigan. The Whitmer campaign also announced that Sen. Sanders will speak at a campaign rally for Whitmer at Rackham Auditorium on the University of Michigan campus [DATE REMOVED]. “I am proud to endorse Gretchen Whitmer for governor of Michigan,” said Sen. Sanders. “Too often, Michigan’s working families have been left behind by the political elite. That’s why Gretchen will work to get big money out of politics, invest in infrastructure, and move towards universal pre-school. In the year 2018 it is simply unacceptable that thousands of Michigan families have drinking water that is contaminated and unsafe. For Gretchen, it will be a top priority to make sure that every Michigander will have clean drinking water so that parents no longer will have to worry about the health of their children.” “I’m so excited to welcome Sen. Sanders to Michigan [DATE REMOVED] so we can build on our momentum and get more people fired up to head to the polls in [DATE REMOVED],” said Whitmer. “Michiganders are ready for a governor who knows how to get things done, like fixing the damn roads, cleaning up our drinking water, and protecting access to quality, affordable health care. If we’re going to solve these problems, we’ve got to get out and elect Democrats up and down the ballot. We’ve got to make sure our friends, families, and neighbors have a plan to get to their polling places. I’m not taking my foot off the gas until the polls close on [DATE REMOVED] 6th. Let’s get it done.”   WHAT: Campaign rally for Gretchen Whitmer and Michigan Democrats   WHO: Gretchen Whitmer, Democratic Nominee for Governor Garlin Gilchrist II, Democratic Nominee for Lt.
