Fix the Damn Roads - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE Fix the Damn Roads HOME ISSUES FIX THE DAMN ROADS To get ahead, Michiganders need one good job and we need to be able to get to that job. But our roads are so bad they cost the average driver more than $540 [DATE REMOVED], and none of that fixes a single pothole. We know that we’re not helpless because Michigan gets the same weather as our neighbors do. While politicians in Lansing vote down road funding solutions for political gain, the dire state of our highways is endangering our people and getting in the way of our economic prosperity. Michigan deserves a governor who will fix the problem and knows how to bring people together to get it done. READ GRETCHEN’S FULL PLAN More than 70 communities have drinking water systems with higher lead levels than Flint and billions of gallons of sewage currently contaminate our water ways. It’s time to fix it, and fix it right. To grow our economy and make Michigan a state that businesses move to and can grow in, we must invest in our roads, bridges, water systems, broadband, and electrical grid. Good roads are good for Michigan families and businesses and infrastructure investment is economic development. We can attract the jobs of the future and help businesses grow right here in Michigan. Now let’s get to work. My plan would: Fix it and fix it right. Upgrade Michigan’s roads, bridges, and water systems. Invest in good infrastructure because it’s good for business. Make a bold investment in the Rebuild Michigan Bank, a state infrastructure bank that will pay for high quality upgrades and create thousands of good jobs. A strategic plan to dig less and build smarter. Make commutes safer and faster Ensure clean safe water Build a new Soo Lock Connect more Michiganders to high-speed broadband Internet READ GRETCHEN’S FULL PLAN DOWNLOAD THE FACT SHEET RETURN TO ISSUES Meet Gretchen Meet Garlin Issues News Volunteer Events Media Store Donate JOIN GRETCHEN Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Medium P.O. Michigan Firefighters: Bill Schuette is Bad for Retirees - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON OCTOBER 4, 2018 BY ZACK POHL Michigan Firefighters: Bill Schuette is Bad for Retirees DETROIT – Today the President of the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union Mark Docherty issued the following statement commenting on Bill Schuette’s record of supporting the Retirement Tax on Michigan seniors: “Bill Schuette can’t hide from his record of giving tax breaks to his wealthy friends at the expense of hardworking Michigan families. The tax plan Schuette supported in 2011 included the Retirement Tax, which has cost seniors who worked hard their whole lives thousands in new taxes they can’t afford. Schuette even said that plan was ‘great news for Michiganders.’ No matter how hard he tries to rewrite his record, Michigan firefighters know that Bill Schuette is bad for retirees, bad for our families, and bad for Michigan.” Former Senate Democratic Leader Gretchen Whitmer has been endorsed by the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union, the Michigan Association of Police Organizations, and the Michigan Fraternal Order of Police. Detroit Free Press: Gov. Whitmer sends Bell's beer care package to 'SNL' star Cecily Strong - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON MAY 3, 2020 BY ZACK POHL Detroit Free Press: Gov. Whitmer sends Bell’s beer care package to ‘SNL’ star Cecily Strong Well, one thing’s for certain: Cecily Strong won’t hold the wrong beer ever again when portraying Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. You may recall [DATE REMOVED] Strong played the role of the Michigan governor during a “[DATE REMOVED] Live” sketch that didn’t make the live airing but was posted online after. The State of Michigan took notice — and so did Whitmer, who told Fox 2 that she found it funny, but took issue with Strong holding a Labatt Blue rather than a Michigan-made beer.   Read the full article here.
