TV Stations in Grand Rapids, Flint, Traverse City Pull Down False DeVos Attack Ads Against Whitmer - Gretchen Whitmer for GovernorSkip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON NOVEMBER 2, 2018 BY ZACK POHL TV Stations in Grand Rapids, Flint, Traverse City Pull Down False DeVos Attack Ads Against Whitmer SOUTHFIELD – Today the Whitmer for Governor campaign issued the following statement from Campaign Manager Eric Goldman commenting on news that three Sinclair TV stations in Grand Rapids, Flint, and Traverse City pulled down a false and misleading attack ad by the DeVos-backed group Priorities for Michigan. “As Bill Schuette struggles in the polls, it’s clear that the only ammunition they have left are desperate lies and smears. We applaud Sinclair TV stations for moving quickly to take down this libelous and misleading dark money smear. We call on the remaining stations that are running this ad to fulfill their legal obligation and follow Sinclair’s lead by pulling down this false attack ad immediately.” BACKGROUND: As MIRS News reported [DATE REMOVED]: Mystery Group With GOP Ties Goes On TV With Unsourced Claim On Whitmer The enigmatic pro-Republican entity “Priorities for Michigan” is back with a TV ad claiming Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen WHITMER wants to make Michigan a “sanctuary state,” an unreferenced claim that doesn’t match anything she’s reportedly said on the campaign trail. The announcer in the “Priorities for Michigan” commercials warns that “thousands of migrants are moving north, demanding to cross our border.” … “Whitmer wants to declare Michigan a sanctuary state. Whitmer would take a dangerous gamble especially now,” according to the ad. When MIRS caught up with Whitmer at a Michigan Education Association meet-and-greet, she said this when asked if she ever said she’d make Michigan a sanctuary state, “I’ve never made that statement . . . No. I’ve never said that.” … “Priorities for Michigan” has funded a pro-Republican women’s recruiting group called a “League of Our Own,” whose “scouts” include former House Speaker Jase BOLGER, Michigan Freedom Fund head Tony DAUNT and four female Republican House members, among others connected to Republican politics. # # # Share this post: Share Tweet Email Post navigation  Previous Post Former President Barack Obama Urges Michigan Voters to Support Gretchen Whitmer in New Radio Ad Next Post   Detroit Free Press: Gretchen Whitmer officially sworn in as Michigan’s 49th governor Meet Gretchen Meet Garlin Issues News Volunteer Events Media Store Donate JOIN GRETCHEN Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Medium P.O. The campaign raised more than $4 million in the most recent period that ended on [DATE REMOVED], and will report $959,242 cash on hand. “Gretchen Whitmer has all of the momentum in this race,” said Whitmer for Governor Press Secretary Nicole Simmons. “She has raised a record-breaking amount in her run for governor because she’s gotten into all 83 counties and talked to real Michiganders about what they want her next governor to focus on. She’s running a real grassroots campaign with an overwhelming majority of donations coming from inside Michigan and under $100. Gretchen is ready to keep her foot on the gas and continue getting Michiganders excited about finally electing a governor who will work with everyone to solve the problems they face every day.” Since entering the race for governor, Gretchen Whitmer’s campaign has raised more than $12 million for the cycle, more than any non-incumbent Democratic candidate for governor in Michigan history. Whitmer is continuing to build momentum in the race. [DATE REMOVED], the campaign announced the group ‘Republicans and Independents for Whitmer,’ which included the former Chair of the Michigan Republican Party, Mel Larsen, former U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz (R-Battle Creek), and a number of former Snyder, Engler and Milliken cabinet officials. Whitmer has also been endorsed by the Detroit Regional Chamber and has been endorsed by more law enforcement organizations than Bill Schuette, the sitting Attorney General. Whitmer has released plans to fight urban poverty, protect women’s health and reproductive rights, clean up Michigan’s drinking water, improve education and skills training, create more good-paying jobs, fix Michigan’s infrastructure and make state government more open, transparent and accountable. ### Share this post: Share Tweet Email Post navigation  Previous Post Whitmer Launches Campaign Ad Focused on Getting Things Done for Michiganders Next Post   Former President Barack Obama Urges Michigan Voters to Support Gretchen Whitmer in New Radio Ad Meet Gretchen Meet Garlin Issues News Volunteer Events Media Store Donate JOIN GRETCHEN Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Medium P.O. MI Nurses Association VP: "Bill Schuette is getting desperate" - Gretchen Whitmer for Governor46%Skip to content Stand with Michigan against hate. CONTRIBUTE TODAY! X Gretchen Whitmer for Governor About Issues News Media Store DONATE POSTED ON OCTOBER 17, 2018 BY ADAM FOX-LONG MI Nurses Association VP: “Bill Schuette is getting desperate” LANSING – Today the Vice President of the Michigan Nurses Association, Katie Scott, RN, issued the following statement commenting on Bill Schuette’s latest campaign ad, where Schuette claims he “voted to protect patients with pre-existing conditions.” “Bill Schuette is getting desperate as he sees Gretchen Whitmer’s commitment to better health care for all Michigan residents hitting home with more and more voters,” said Scott. “Bill Schuette claiming he will create better health insurance is like Betsy DeVos saying she’ll create better public schools. Voters are smart enough to know when someone in power is looking out for the wealthy and not the rest of us. Nurses across the state want Bill Schuette to quit trying to bury his lawsuits to kill coverage of pre-existing conditions and the Medicaid expansion that millions of Michigan patients – and our own families – rely on every day.” # # #   Share this post: Share Tweet Email Post navigation  Previous Post Detroit Regional Chamber Endorses Gretchen Whitmer Over Bill Schuette for Governor Next Post   Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha Endorses Gretchen Whitmer for Governor Meet Gretchen Meet Garlin Issues News Volunteer Events Media Store Donate JOIN GRETCHEN Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube Medium P.O.
